1 Corinthians 11
1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ for I do as Christ has done with my hands, because it is Christ in me willing to do, as he has done. That is the Spirit leading my soul, that my body is in subjection to the Spirit within me, which is Christ reserrection life living in me.
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the commandment that Christ gave, as I delivered them to you. That ye love one another, by showing compassion, which Christ demonstrated the Fathers love by healing, to those who had need of healing, everywhere he went.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Who dwells in you all who are called according to this gospel.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken, with stripes for my healing: this do in remembrance of me, that I may be healed.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me, that I may be saved by His blood.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread for healing, and drink this cup for forgiveness of sins, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread which is for healing, and drink this cup of the Lord for forgiveness, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. That he may be healed and forgiven.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For both will preserve him in this life and the next.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep, for they did not know or did not remember that his body was broken for their healing.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another till all be healed and that all have their sins forgiven, when being partakers of his body.
34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
1 Corinthians 12
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Saying that, be not even as they thinking the gifts are many, but the gift is one, and that one is Christ who dwells all the gifts and in all who believe.
3 Wherefore I give you understanding, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, or many gifts in that same one Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord and in that one Spirit.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all for the occasion to minister as a need is needed.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man who believes, to profit withal.
8 For when one is needed to edify, it is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; when another is needed, the word of knowledge will manifest by the same Spirit;
9 When another gift is needed then faith is provided, by the same Spirit; to another who might need healing, the gifts of healing will manifest by the same Spirit;
10 Or to another person who needs a miracle, the working of miracles will operate by the same Spirit; the same with prophecy; discerning of spirits; divers kinds of tongues; interpretation of tongues:
11 But all who worketh and walk by faith, by that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing severally as he will meet all the needs of the people who come to Christ or as I see the need in those whom Christ died for.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ in you ready to live again through you to meet the needs of the world again by his tender touch, that dwells in us.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into that one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit ready to distribute again to anybody, even as Christ did when he walked the earth.
14 For the body is not one member, but many. Neither with the Spirit be only one gift but many, to the occasion that arises when needed he gives.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in your body, in the Spirit, as it hath pleased him that you can be partakers of Christ miracle working life, in you. who are also called sons of God.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set in the church, these are apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 All are apostles, all are prophets, all are teachers, all are workers of miracles.
30 All have gifts of healing, all can speak with tongues. all can interpret, for all are in that one Spirt and that Sprit is Christ and Christ in you.
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts, or the one that is needed at the moment to the person whom you minister to at this moment: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way, by being ready to walk by faith and proclaim freedom to those who are bound.
